The Trinity College harp was the original inspiration for this design. Starting from a museum line drawing
pinned to the wall, I expanded the string spacing a bit and adjusted the length of the bass strings to give them
a little more tension and in general mused over it quite a bit for several years and several harps.
Sticking strictly with the ideal string lengths, the outline retains that nice Guinness beer bottle look. Those
old harp makers knew a thing or two.
The Ancient Celtic can be played on the lap, but it's a lapful. Not what you'd call a compact harp but still
easily picked up with one hand and set in the car seat.
The large soundbox gives plenty of volume.
