The Ancient Muse is wire strung harp following the principles of physics and acoustics the same as the low head harps of
the late middle ages followed those principles as they were understood in their time. The Ancient Muse is not a
reproduction nor "measured" copy of any existing historical harp, such pursuit is a fool's errand. Rather this harp explores
the essential idea of the wire harp, the Spirit of Ancient Music. If the Ancient Muse resembles the extant 15th century low
head harps, it is not because it is copied from them or patterned after them, but rather because the principles of physics and
acoustics have not changed in the 500 years since those ancient luthiers also sought the essence of wire harp music.

The strings are monofilament brass or bronze wire which run directly from the antique plum-brown
finished steel taper pins to the nickel string shoes. The range is from C below middle C to high G. It
is a diatonic instrument, it does not accommodate sharping devices.
The harp is 31" tall, 18" deep, and 10½" wide. It weighs about 14 lbs depending on the type of wood.
